Are you managing your balance sheet?
I used to belong to a management mastermind group called TEC. At that time I had a chain of 12 dental offices and I was having trouble managing them. I met a guy in the group who ran a chain of quick oil change centres.
I asked him how he made sure everyone did what they were supposed to.
He said "I don't get involved in the day to day management. I just manage the balance sheet".
Basically what he was saying is that his job is to decide on the direction he wants the company to go and to make sure there is enough money to do it and that he is getting a good return on his
investment. He left the management to his managers.
Then he watched the numbers. If they were okay, he left the managers alone. If they started to turn, he would ask the tough questions and possibly change managers if he felt they were not
performing.
The message here is that owning and leading are different from managing. The requirements and skills are totally different.
Most dentists are trying to be good managers instead of good leaders.
So now I manage the balance sheet instead of every nit picking detail in the office.
Let's be clear; dental office management is not easy.
I have a large office with 13 dentists and 45 - 50 staff.
Yet managing it is easy for me.
Why?
Because I have an excellent office manager.
A good one is hard to find which has
always made practice management difficult for dentists.
Until now.
Why?
Because I'm willing to have my manager train your manager.
This creates a double win: the office should begin to run better and become more profitable.
And, you can stop doing all the stuff that consumes your evenings and weekends that you don't enjoy doing anyway.
Our next seminar to train dental office managers is coming up fast so it is almost last call for this one.
Our next hands-on dental manager training session is being held in Miami Feb 21-24, 2012.
One of the dentists who sent his manager to the last one said she came back a different person.
She finally took charge because she understood her role and how to do it.
Plus they come back with a personalized office manual with each and every one of your office policies set
out in it. You may not even know what policies you should have. Don't worry, we tell you what you need to include and you discuss these issues before the course, so the manager can put it all together.
This is the only course where a dental office manager can learn from a hands-on real live manager who actually runs a huge dental office and runs it well.
This is not put on by a professional speaker. It is taught by a professional manager. He has seen every issue your manager may need help with.
The testimonials are from the last session and kind of say it all:
