Hawaii Dental Cruise March 27-April 3, 2010

I am hosting a limited attendance Dental Mastermind/ Seminar aboard a Hawaiian Cruise Ship.
This is intended to be a small select group of high achieving dentists who want to work one on one with me, and other successful, like minded dentists.
I have booked a limited number of rooms on the cruise ship, I can only hold them for 1 week at a time, I can't hold the cost down as the ship fills up. So if you are interested get hold of me right away.
I analyzed the surveys for those who responded and have given this program a lot of thought. I have come up with a program that I believe will provide tremendous impact to the dentists involved, be a fantastic holiday and break from our day to day lives, and yet, not have the program intrude too harshly into the holiday.
To achieve all of these somewhat conflicting goals, the work will be done only during times the ship is sailing, so that you can maximize your fun time on shore. With the program during the trip, extraordinary gains are possible, yet we don’t ruin the trip by sitting in meeting rooms all day. It is also flexible in the sense that anyone can skip any session if they choose without missing out on the tremendous overall benefit .
Even though this has been planned all along as a high end event for high achieving dentists, I have also made it affordable so that it is in reach for all dentists and you can bring your spouse, children and staff if you choose.
(See my note at the end for my suggestion on how to get the staff to finance a part of their trip costs.)
The Educational Component
We will work with each dentist individually to create an overall plan for their practice to add $100,000 in production next year. It will involve both big picture Strategic Planning, direct input from other successful dentists, plus teaching many of the small details that we have implemented in our practice that you can copy.
The Holiday Component
Imagine waking up at a different Hawaiian island every morning for a whole week. Hawaii is known for near perfect weather and scenery with lots to do and see on every island. Beaches, mountains, sunsets, volcanoes, forests, fabulous golf, palm trees, waterfalls, zip-lining, waterfront restaurants, and all at 80 degrees with warm trade winds blowing.
So here is the itinerary, which is subject to change:

Saturday
We board in Honolulu March 27 and meet for cocktails at 7 PM. There will be a cruise orientation by the ship staff this evening.
Sunday
Free evening, as we are in port and many of you will choose to remain on land for the evening.
Monday
We will meet for a private dinner where everyone is split up and rotated after every course, so that we all get to meet all of the other participants.
Tuesday
The ship leaves at 6 PM so, after dinner, we will have our first group seminar at 7:30 PM, including staff and interested spouses. This first session is for all office staff and dentists together.
Wednesday
6 PM; before dinner we will break the dentists into one group, and staff into another for our session. This will be a seminar on the business skills a dentist needs to understand and apply daily to lead the office effectively. The staff will be given specific training by my Office Manager related to bringing patients in, keeping them in, and effective collection methods, telephone technique, etc.
Thursday
Free evening as we are in port, and many of you will choose to remain on land for the evening.
Friday
At 3 PM I will host a ‘dentists only’ Networking Session where we will meet in small groups to discuss our office plans and give and receive input from other successful dentists. Come prepared with an issue that you would like input on. As far as participants go, so far, there are already 2 dentists who are clients of mine and using my materials that are  producing $2 million per year, another dentist with 4 associates, the busiest dentist in his area of Brisbane, Australia, and several others so the feedback and interaction will be unbelievable. You will learn from people actually doing it as well as from me.
The staff will also meet in a separate group with my Office Manager for a 'staff only' session, to get your staff to document what they are going to do to make your office better.
We will leave the last night free for socializing/networking on ship with the new people we have met.
Saturday

Today we arrive back in Honolulu at 7 AM and depart back to our offices ready to re-establish ourselves as leaders in our dental communities.

Cost
Since this is our first Adventure / Educational Trip, I want to make it absolutely packed with value at the lowest possible price to make sure it is a complete success for everyone.
In summary this is what you get:

*   All on board accommodation on the Cruise Ship Spirit of America, non stop eating, entertainment and transport to Maui, Kauai, The Big Island and back to Honolulu.
*   Several evening and afternoon seminar sessions
*   Networking events to get to know other successful dentists.
*   Staff motivation, training and goal setting with my office manager.
*   Dentist Mastermind Session with other progressive doc’s.
* Specific targeted staff training and networking session to enroll them into the plan
The entire hands-on program and the cruise is only US$3650.00 per dentist. That is a $300 discount from the regular cost of $3950. This discount applies only while supplies of rooms at this price last. One dentist booked 17 staff, so the rooms can go quickly.
Spouse/Staff rate is only $1550 per person including the sessions and the cruise.
These costs are based on double occupancy.
And don’t forget most that in most jurisdictions these are tax deductable expenses.
By the way, children sharing a room with you are only $400 each.
What is not included:
  • Your airfare to and from Honolulu
  • Any activities, or on-shore excursions
  • Tips and room upgrades
  • Meals at special on-board restaurants, which are not included with the cruise.
  • Any extension of your stay in Hawaii before or after the cruise.
  • It is $200 per person per week to upgrade to an ocean view room and $300 for a room with a balcony.
How (and why) to get your staff to contribute to the cost:
I have a large office, with 60 staff, so it costs too much to simply pay for everyone to come on a trip. But it can be expensive to bring even a small staff.
We have gone on many trips as an office, and have always asked the staff to contribute to the cost of their trip by having them work a certain number of days for free.
We actually book extra days of production that we otherwise would not have worked. So we get extra production with no staff costs. Over several months to have them each put in an extra day per month without pay is no hardship to them or you, yet it adds up to a tremendous contribution to the cost of going on these trips. By booking in extra days, you are generating money that you otherwise would not, and this can help finance the trip. I also include my associates in this, and have them work extra days at no pay, so they too can reap the rewards of going on an educational excursion. And they really enjoy the bonding time with the staff as well.
In my office I make it optional for the staff to participate; they don't have to do it. But most of them will jump at it. They also feel better making a contribution to the cost. And best of all, if it is more affordable for you, you will do it a lot more often. Which becomes a way to minimize staff turnover when they have another great trip to look forward to next year.
The agenda has been designed to provide a program for staff as well, but bringing staff, children or spouses is entirely optional. I do know that staff can be extremely motivated at a time like this, where you have made it possible for them to visit Hawaii, and our program is designed to tap into these legitimate feelings of gratitude to encourage them to commit in writing to what they plan to do, to make your office better.
I don't believe in fluffy programs with no 'meat' and no return on investment. I don't want your staff to come back pumped up and then go back to normal a week later. I want them to have plan that they share with you about what they are going to do different and better when they return.
I am committed to working hard to making this an investment, not an expense and yet provide the benefit of an utterly amazing, relaxing holiday.
Adventure
When I first mentioned the idea of a trip, I suggested that this would be a chance for a once in a lifetime experience.
A cruise in some ways may seem to fall short of that, however one of the most exciting moments in my life occurred on the Big Island when I went out on a kayak into a bay frequented by Spinner Dolphins, and then jumped into the water and swam with them in the wild. To see them swim, make their sonar sounds under the water, and jump and flip and spin in the air all around you is an experience I will always remember. You can bet I will be taking a group with me to that same place, and each shore excursion can be what we make of it, with beaches, hiking, heli-tours, world class golf, snorkel, whale watching, scuba, or even a night dive for the more daring. Or you can just relax on the beach, visit a world class spa, or take in some fantastic shopping. In addition, a cruise was the number one item checked off on the survey I sent out, and we can each make what we want of it.
Decision Time
In my consulting work, one of the things that frequently comes up with dentists, is difficulty in making decisions. A great leader knows that nothing is perfect, but if something has a balance of benefits that outweigh the negatives, they proceed with it every time. That is simply the only formula for continuous improvement.
We're all getting older every day. Let’s mulit-task here and start knocking off some 'bucket list' items and set ourselves up to earn enough extra income to do it again next year.
Reservations
To secure a spot on this trip please send me a reply email with the number of people you want to bring. The deposit will be $250 each to hold a spot. Right now I just want to know who is coming. But do it this week if you want to be sure you can secure space.
It’s about time we dentists had some high profile development opportunities like the business executives we are, write it off, treat our hard working staff and ourselves to a break and enjoy more of what life has to offer.
When I put this experience together I thought about the kind of experience I would want; lots of fun, a hard core program that really takes me to the next level, a specific plan for both me and my staff and a way to write off a fantastic trip.
Send me an email ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) or fill in our online form here and tell me how many dentists, staff and children, your name and phone number. I will contact you to get your Visa number to leave the deposit. This will insure that you get the rooms you want and also get the discount. Or call me at 403 256 0451 if you need more info.
My travel agent can help you with flights or you can book your own. She can also handle room upgrades, but first we need to know who is coming.
Aloha,
Dr. Dave
